Bosnia and Hercegovina – 26 August 2022

The prosecution’s closing statement called for the jailing of former Bosnian Serb military policeman Momcilo Tesic, who is charged with aiding the Srebrenica genocide in July 1995. The full article can be found here.


Montenegro – 26 August 2022

The Montenegrin Agency for National Security alleged that Russian services have staged coordinated attacks on government servers but said the authorities managed to prevent any damage. The full article can be found here.


Bosnia and Hercegovina – 29 August 2022

The appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court confirmed the verdict convicting Cvijan Tomanic, a Bosnian Serb soldier during wartime, of committing a crime against humanity in 1992. The full article can be found here.


Albania – 30 August 2022

Faruk Fatih Ozer, a Turkish businessman accused of running a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme, who has been wanted by the Turkish authorities for over a year, was arrested in the Albanian city of Elbasan. The full article can be found here.

Kosovo – 30 August 2022

A study by the Humanitarian Law Centre in Pristina said that the memorialisation process in Kosovo continues to be characterised by inaccurate data, nationalistic language and ethnic hatred. The full article can be found here.


Kosovo – 31 August 2022

As the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia on crossing borders using only IDs comes into force, a big disclaimer written in English and Serbian on the Serbian side of the frontier reminds the public of Serbia’s continued non-recognition of Kosovo’s independence. Bosnian Serb and Croat politicians have joined forces in calling for the dismissal of Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic, but the Bosniak party that put her in the post looks unlikely to let her go with an election looming in October. The full article can be found here.
